Toe-tappin' Tuesday

One of my favorite local bluesy bands just released a new album. It's available here along with a couple sample tracks. Also available on emusic but I think buying directly from the label gets them more money (disclosure: I noticed it at emusic first, so I suck).

I shall resume my regularly-scheduled dearth of posting now.

  1. "Raging stomp"? I am not a huge blueso fan, but raging folk-stomp sounds right in my wheelhouse. Could be used to describe the Violent Femmes in busking mode, after all...

Based on when I do this at the Empire, expect someone to stop in to tell you why not paying for music is morally justified because reasons.

    2. And yes, from what I know of you, you'd like them. Might check out their earlier stuff (all on emusic) if you want stuff that's a bit less refined than the new album.

  2. I've been a fan since I saw them at Livewire couple years back. They were saying how they got together, playing in one of their basements and drinking beer. Then they were asked where the band name came from. They rambled on about how they couldn't come up with a name whereupon I shouted out "Basements buckets and beer, duh!" They wanted to stick with the name they already had.

    1. I knew you had excellent taste.

A former harp instructor of mine played with them on one of their albums and turned me on to them. G

  3. Gonna give 'em a try. the snipperts sounded pretty good. Less Bluesy than advertised; the slide guitar came off more lap-steelish in context. Kind of a nice backyard blugrassy flavor, reminiscent of Split Lip Rayfield....
