Wondering Wandering Wednesday

Always wondering, with wandering thoughts, wandering workloads, and wandering around the intertrons.

I wandered shambled by the zombie's place and was introduced to some lovely tunes, which caused me to wander to eMusic to see what else there is by the EELS (warning: music autoplay). After listening and downloading a bit I of course had to wander around to some of my standard faves to see if anything new was out, and lo-and-behold a "new" Tool album is available. "Hmm," says I, "WTF is up with that? They didn't have any Tool here before." Turns out it's mostly a bunch of stuff I already had, but I noticed that "Parabola" was 10 minutes long. "Ten minutes?" I wondered -- "The version I have is half that." Then I wondered further if it was available on the Ute Oobs so I could see what was up with the different version.

Of course it is!

That is wonderful weirdness right there. Watch in HD for best results.

So that's how you get from zombies to EELS to Tool. I knew you were wondering.

Now I need to wander back to work.

  1. Brando also turned me on to the new album by a band called Pallbearer, great gothy doom metal.

    2. That is indeed good stuff, thanks for the recommend.

While listening to that, I found this which has more of an old school metal feel to it. Kinda fun.

  2. We should only listen to music that promotes the Green Party and the greater good.

    1. Well duh, of course! I think an "all Greensleeves, all the time" policy should be strictly enforced. With drones.

    1. I go through phases (like now) where I listen to only Tool and A Perfect Circle for a couple days. Great stuff.

Then I typically have to go to something completely different for a while -- Miiles Davis or old blues or something to detox.

    2. Right, I usually put at least 2 years between Tool phases but every time I return I appreciate the music a bit differently. They're amazing live. I'll never skip a chance. Saw them at lalopolozza on the.same bill as Snoop Dogg!

"Fresh Feeling" was my intro to Eels, can't say I've given them much.of a.chance since. Maybe I'll give them another shot.

  4. There's an interesting documentary out there in which the singer of The Eels gets to discover an aspect of his dad's life that he never understood: dad, it turned out, was a mathematician and a pioneer in the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics.
