The Needle And The Damage Done

While the photoshoopery is fun, the more mundane of our political realities are really fucking pissing me off. I'd really, really like to hope that this is a sign of some clever politicking that is ideally designed to quiet the constant barrage of noisy OMGWTFBBQ!? over the non-compliant policy cancellations. I dunno, I'd like to hope I guess. Anyway, the whole "MM-MUH PLAN! WHUT ABOUT MUH PRESHUS PLAN!" bullshit, along with Neil Young's recent birthday (68!) collided here:

I feel like it would be perfect if we adjust the lyrics a teensy bit for the current situation:

I caught them knockin'
at my cellar door
We love you, baby,
can we have some more?
Ooh, ooh, the damage done.

I hit the city and
I lost my friends
I watched the needle
take another plan
Gone, gone, the damage done.

I sing the song
because I love the plan
I know that some
of you won't understand
Milk-blood
to keep from running out.

I've seen the needle
and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone
But every flunkie's
like a settin' sun.

Meh, that'll work. As usual, vast readership, suggestions welcome in the comments.

    2. I have, of course seen the old grizzled Canadianoid. With those Crazy Horse drug fiends. Social Distortion and Sonic Youth opened up.

      It was gloriously noisy.

    3. I'm reading his recent book right now. It's... interesting. He has a penchant for falling for some crazy woo shit and sinking a bunch of money into lost causes. He does tell some good stories that give some really cool background about a bunch of his songs though, which is neat.

  2. sinking a bunch of money into lost causes.

he bought Lionel Trains because his son, who suffers from cerebral palsy, loved toy trains so much. All lost causes should be so worthy.

If I had Neil Young's money, you can bet I would throw it at any number of lost causes. Tilting at windmills seems to be the only worthwhile endeavor any more.

    1. He wasted a ton of time and money trying to make his lincvolt car run on a fakir water engine. But yeah, his heart is in the right place.
